A dainty jewel of early grandeur, this Etruscan Revival 15ct gold, enamel and garnet pendant distils the romance of the mid-19th century into a perfectly formed miniature. Inspired by the archaeological discoveries that captivated Victorian imaginations, it echoes the ancient goldwork of Cerveteri and Vulci, where granulation, cabochons and bold geometric detailing reigned supreme.

At its centre rests a glowing garnet cabochon, its deep claret tone reminiscent of the “carbuncles” praised in classical verse. Encircling it is a halo of impeccably bright white enamel, arranged with the rhythmic precision characteristic of revivalist pieces that sought to honour antiquity rather than imitate it outright.
