Antique 9ct Gold Glass Locket
An antique glass locket with all the quiet romance one hopes for from Victorian jewellery - and remarkably, none of the usual compromises.
Crafted in 9ct gold, this beautifully preserved example features a circular glazed centre framed by a delicate beaded sunburst border; a design that feels both ornamental and surprisingly modern even more than a century later. The softly undulating goldwork gives the piece a lovely sense of movement and lightness, while the double-sided glass panels allow photographs, fabric, pressed flowers or keepsakes to be displayed from either side.
Lockets such as these became deeply fashionable throughout the Victorian and Edwardian periods, often worn close to the heart to hold miniature portraits or sentimental mementos. While many surviving examples show damage or replacement panels, this piece remains in exceptional antique condition with both original glass inserts intact - something increasingly difficult to find.
Elegant worn alone on a fine antique chain, though equally lovely layered amongst modern pieces where its unusual design stands out immediately.
