Antique 9ct Gold Carnelian & Bloodstone Spinner Fob
A beautifully preserved Victorian spinner fob, crafted in solid 9ct gold and set with two rich and contrasting stones - a warm carnelian and a dark, enigmatic bloodstone. Bearing clear Chester hallmarks for 1896, this elegant piece embodies the late 19th century’s fascination with sentiment, symbolism, and craftsmanship.
Originally suspended from a gentleman’s Albert watch chain, such fobs were both practical and personal. The smoothly polished stones would once have been engraved with a family crest or monogram, used to seal letters in wax - a romantic ritual from an age when correspondence was both art and intimacy.
Today, this fine example makes a striking pendant when worn on a gold chain - equally suited to layering with other antique charms or standing alone as a piece of quiet sophistication. The gold mount retains its crisp detailing, the spinner turns smoothly, and both stones remain in excellent condition - a lovely survivor of the Victorian era.
